Police operatives arrested on Thursday one of four persons tagged as behind the Guiwan car bomb explosion that killed two persons and wounded dozens of others last January 24.

Babylyn Jul Mualam, 41, married, was arrested in Stanvac, Campo Islam around 3 p.m.

Mualam’s name together with those of Aldamer Jul Sahibuddin, Nidz Ahmad and Muammar Askali was listed in the warrant of arrest issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 15Judge Peter Eisma for double murder and multiple frustrated murder with no bail bond recommended.

Mualam was taken to the Central Police Station for the mug shot, documentation and detention prior her turnover to the court.

Mualam was arrested by operatives of the City Police Office’s Intelligence Section, Central Police Station, Special Action Force and personnel of other government agencies.

To recall, Mualam and some of her children were arrested in their house in San Roque after the powerful explosion outside the Fantacy Disco Pub in Guiwan. During the arrest, police recovered a rifle in their house. However when the police filed cases for double murder and multiple frustrated murder, the court dismissed them  for lack of evidence, while the case for illegal possession or firearm and ammunition prospered.

Mualam was able to post P170,000 bail bond for the case of illegal possession and was temporarily released.

Police sleuths continued their investigation and gathering of evidences and came up with new cases of double murder and multiple frustrated murder which finally get the court’s approval  and subsequently a warrant of arrest was issued.

After Muaram’s arrest, police are bent on arresting the three others listed in the warrant. – Dan Toribio Jr.
