ZSCMST-HRM champion in 5th Zampen Tourism, Hospitality Education Congress PDF Print E-mail

The Council of Tourism and Hospitality Educators of Zamboanga Peninsula (CTHEZP),  in cooperation with the Commission on Higher Education Region 9, organized a 5th Zamboanga Peninsula Tourism and Hospitality Education Congress  at Dipolog City last August 7-9, 2015.  The said event was participated by the different state colleges and universities and private institutions in the region and convened at the Zamboanga del Norte Convention and Sports Center.

The said congress imparted the theme ” Hospitality Education in the Contemporary World : Trends, Innovation and Complexity. “ One of the objectives of the Congress was to function as a motivating program and get to bring together  educators and students to interrelate, lead intellectual discourse in relation to hospitality and tourism industry and foster cultural exchange and fellowship among attendees.

With the trust, confidence and support of Dr. Milavel Depacaquivo-Nazario, president of the Zamboanga State Colleges of Marine Sciences and Technology, to the College of Hotel and Restaurant Management, she sent student-participants to the said event along with three coaches — Dean Justine Mae Nur, Ms.Marialyn B. Vicente, the Program Adviser and Ms. Ann Dispo. The team CHRM of ZSCMST was able tograb the over-all champion title  in the competitions. The following adjudged winners of the different events :  first placer for Synchronized Flaring — Joe Marie D.R. Almonte, Rey C. Daclan,   Allen Paul V. Palacio, Nashalie Mae C. Gonzales, Jojie C. Yalon. First Placer for Floral Arrangement — Anrey P. Agustin  and  Juvi C. Hipone. First placer for Table Napkin Folding — Marc Joseph A. Atanoso. Second Placer Buffet Skirting – Dwayne Anthony A. Cabot and Jhonriel B. Deoduco and Market Basket – Ogie Boy Buscas and Ana Jollain T. Gonzaga. Third Placer Bartending — Elvin B. Tubil, Cake Decorating – Junmar T. Tanador and Antonio C. Amarille.

Parallel to the College’s vision to transform individuals to become globally competitive, the College of Hotel and Restaurant Management of ZSCMST is afire to prepare its students to  get ready for competitions and national competencies through its outcomes-based education and  they are set for next year’s congress.
