IPs oust Musa as group rep to ZC City Council PDF Print E-mail

In a marathon session last August 20, 2015 at the Celebrity Hall, Grand Astoria Hotel, the 25-strong Council of Leaders of the Indigenous Peoples of Zamboanga City acted in finality in ousting IPMR Ishmael Musa as the IPs representative of the five tribes in the city to the City Council, upholding two resolutions of the organization submitted earlier to the Tribal Council and the Commission on Indigenous Peoples for action.

After three months of completing the process as required by Republic Act 8371, the tribal leaders confirmed the resolutions declaring the position as vacant for loss of confidence, according to GCCPBA Media Group

Earlier in the morning session, Dr. PendatunTalib, Al-Hj. resigned verbally, confirming his earlier letter submitted to Barangay ChairmanTungkuh Hanapi, president of the Indigenous Peoples Organization which the latter submitted at the plenary and got the unanimous votes to accept Pendatun’s resignation as chair of the  Council of Leaders effective August 18, 2015 with vigorous objection from Councilor Musa.

In the afternoon of the same day, session of the IP leaders was devoted to listening the littany of complaints against IPMR Musa from all the tribal leaders which would formed part of the documents for the justification of the loss of confidence on the IPMR.

The list of complaints which was named as the Bill of Particulars be attached to the resolution on the petition for the cancellation of the IPMR certificate of affirmation by the NCIP.

The marathon session was ably handled as noted by NCIP officials headed by Engr. George Jocutan, Hji. Amilpasa Bandaying, as temporary Presiding Officer,  Chair Hanapi, President of the Indigenous Peoples Organization and Prof. Ali T. Yacub, Al-Hj., PIO of the Indigenous Peoples Organization with the strong support of assembled tribal leaders who were all unwavering in their decision to oust Musa as the IP representative to the City Council.

The IP Council of Leaders, accordingly, is now rushing all the documents needed for submission to the Regional Director, NCIP, through the Head, Engr. George Jocutan, NCIP Zamboanga City.
