Residents in waterless sitios of some far-flung barangays will soon enjoy the benefit for water service courtesy of District 1 Congressman Celso Lobregat.

Zamboanga City District Engineer Cholie Roble of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in a report to Congressman Lobregat, stated that seven  water system projects are now under construction and one is still up for bidding.

On-going is the construction of water systems in Limaong, Manalipa, Dita, Muti, Panubigan, Taguiti, and Tagasilay. Still up for bidding is the proposed water project in Lubigan.

Budget for these projects, in the amount of Php 2 million each, is included in the RLIP (Regular Local Infrastructure Program) General Appropriations Act (GAA) thru Lobregat’s representation and implemented by the DPWH.

These water system projects were identified by Lobregat in consultations with barangay officials headed by Chairmen NasriAsari of Limaong, Abubakar Hakim of Manalipa, Abdurahim Lim of Dita, Henry Aring of Muti, Jackeline Magasa of Panubigan, MuktarSajili of Lubigan, SabalBalahim of Taguiti, and Hanisa Francisco of Tagasilay.

Roble’s report to Lobregat provided a list of projects to be implemented for Fiscal Year 2015 that included construction of slope protection, drainage system, road paving and concreting, widening of bridges, flood control, new school buildings for both elementary and high schools, farm-to-market roads, multi-purpose facilities, etc.
