Close to 500 mostly indigent residents of Barangay Guisao, east of this city, yesterday benefitted from the various “Dia del Alcalde” outreach services of the different city government offices headed by Mayor Beng Climaco together with Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde.

Among the basic services the residents of Guisao availed most during the “Dia del Alcalde” were medical checkup for the mothers and senior citizens, tooth extraction for young adults and children, medicines, techno-farming materials for famers and veterinary services.

On hand to facilitate the conduct of the “Dia del Alcalde” outreach mission were the barangay officials and tanod headed by Chairman Miguel Arquiza, who was very thankful to Mayor Climaco and the city government personnel involved in the ‘Dia” for extending them free medical services that they can only avail if they go downtown.

The “Dia del Alcalde” is Mayor Climaco’s brainchild that aims to bring basic medical and social services of the city government to the people in line with her thrust on health.

Climaco likewise thought of the activity as her own way of meeting up-close and personal her constituents, especially those in far-flung areas and island barangays.

During the “Dia del Alcalde,” she also takes time to meet with the barangay officials and discuss with them important issues like security, infrastructure projects, disaster risk reduction efforts, among others.

For this month of August, the “Dia del Alcalde” outreach mission went to barangays Tumaga, Mampang, San Roque, Quiniput, Lamisahan and Guisao. — Vic Larato
