City Police Director Sr. Supt. Angelito A. Casimiro has commended the Zamboanga City Police Office’s Special Operations Group and other government forces relative to the arrest of  a man wanted for the gun slaying of an engineer and the wounding of two others in Vitali in Juy 2013.

Arrested by the Special Operations Group together with other lawmen was Stephen Baykeng, accused of killing Engr. Felipe R. Casimiro and wounding of two others.

Baykeng was arrested last in Imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay.

A police report disclosed that Baykeng shot Nepumuceno  and two others on July 23, 2013 around 7:05 p.m. in  a restaurant in Vitali.

Investigation revealed that Baykeng is  a leader of a gun-for-hire group and a resident of Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Casimiro said that Baykeng is now detained at the Zamboanga City Jail.

An officer of the Joint Intelligence Law Enforcement who requested anonymity, recalled their hardship in locating and eventually arresting Baykeng.

“We just worked hard day and night for more than two years to locate him and later arrested him. At least our work was very fruitful. He is now behind bars. He will now answer to the court on what he has done,” he said. — Allen Abastillas
