OZAMIZ CITY –- Governor Mohammad Khalid Dimaporo of the nearby Lanao del Norte province has put up a P4-million reward for the recapture of the eight inmates who bolted jail on Thursday.

Perlito Gementiza, Lanao del Norte provincial jail warden, made this announcement Friday, citing each of the escapees has a PhP500,000 reward on his head.

The escapees are identified as Karis Balwa Lando; Ano Angni; Mamuran Dasimbor; Bukong Santos; Waled Mandagla; Bawi Mapapandi; Samsodin Mamao; and, Musakira Tomanto.

Gementiza said they were involved in heinous crimes that included murder, rape, robbery and violation of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

They escaped from the provincial jail around 3:15 a.m. Thursday in Barangay Pigcarangan, Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

Investigation showed the inmates escaped after sawing the iron grills of their detention cell with a hacksaw when the guards fell asleep.

Gementiza said the escape has been done when the guards took notice half-an-hour later.

A manhunt operation to recapture the escapees continues.

Senior Supt. Madid Paitao, Lanao del Norte police director, has alerted the province’s 22 towns and ordered the arrest of the escapees once sighted in their place.

Paitao said they have coordinated with the other law enforcement agencies including the military forces to assist them in the manhunt operation.
