Three more storey-high classroom buildings are currently being constructed in several public schools in the city, maximizing the use of the limited space in existing school campuses.

District 1 Congressman Celso Lobregat took a break from his busy schedule in Congress to check the progress of the construction of school buildings in Ayala, Sta. Barbara and Sta. Maria, the funding of which he included in the General Appropriations Act (GAA) 2015 and implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Zamboanga City District Engineer’s Office.

Lobregat recently visited barangay Ayala where a 3-storey, 15 classroom-building is undergoing construction at Ayala Central School with an appropriation of Php 22.4-million.

While there, Lobregat had a chance meeting with different batches of graduates of Ayala Central School who were holding their Alumni Homecoming. The groups were treated to a surprise quiz by the solon to test if they remember the past.

From Ayala, Lobregat inspected the on-going construction of two (2) school buildings at Sta. Barbara Elementary School. These are two units of 3-storey 15 classroom- building with a combined appropriation of Php 44.9 million.

A third school project that Lobregat inspected was a 3-storey 15 classroom building being constructed at Sta. Maria Central School with a funding allocation of Php 22.4-million.

Construction of the four classroom buildings began simultaneously in March, this year, and are expected to be completed by April, 2016 in time for the June opening of classes.

Since he became City Mayor and now District 1 Congressman, Lobregat continues to attend to the requirements of the education sector by prioritizing the construction of new school buildings in order to cope with the increasing number of enrollees every year in the public elementary and high schools. --Jubels Santos
