Mayor Beng Climaco and the city’s two congressional representatives yesterday vowed to continue pouring in more resources in the effort of providing more households with potable drinking water.

Councilor Elong Natividad, representing the mayor, cited the critical nature of water supply in the community saying it is imperative to provide ample drinking water to the city’s populace.

Natividad also lauded the efforts of the ZCWD in continually developing new resources to satisfy the growing needs of an expanding community in Zamboanga.

Speaking one after the other, City 2nd Dist. Rep. Lilia Macrohon Nuño and 1st Dist. Rep. Celso Lobregat during the blessing and inaugural rites of the Mercedes Batching plant of ZCWD and the improvements made to the Pasobolong Production well yesterday, the duo cited the need to focus on delivering more projects that will improve potable water production in the city to assure ample supply to households in the city.

Nuño and Lobregat both reported priority projects undertaken by their offices in developing new water production facilities in the barangays seeking to extend the coverage of water delivery to households further outwards into the barangays.

Nuño also cited the aggressive project intensive approach of the district saying this was a positive to water sufficiency in the future.

Lobregat on the other hand said the local government unit here and the ZCWD’s cooperation on several projects undertaken jointly has opened an avenue for faster development of water resources of the district.

Board Chairman Efren Arañez for his part assured the ZCWD’s present administration is bent on fast tracking projects that will bring potable water production to levels equalling the present demand.

The asphalt batching plant and the improvements of the Pasobolong production well are a testament to that commitment, Chairman Arañez said.

In Zamboanga city, the active engagement of the LGU in the water district  affairs has proven beneficial to the district as millions of pesos worth of resources has been poured in the past few years to enhance water production and improve delivery to more households than before.
