Army soldiers arrested a 33-year-old man in Sacol Island for possession of a grenade last Saturday afternoon.

Culianan Police Station commander Sr. Insp. Elmer Solon identified the suspect as DollyTaid y Adjihari, 33, single, a seaweeds farmer and a resident of Landang Laum, Sacol Island.

Solon said that Taid was turned over to the police station by army soldiers led by SSgt. Ronnie Peralta Favo around 8:30 p.m.

Investigation disclosed that Favo, detachment commander at Busay, Sacol island received information from a civilian around 2 p.m. Friday  that a certain Dolly was carrying a firearm in Landang Gua near a basketball court.

Immediately Favo together with CAFGU vounteers on duty proceeded to the said place,but the suspect was no longer in the area.

At 3p.m. Saturday, Favo received another information that the suspect was spotted at the same basketball court carrying a grenade.

Favo and his men with some CAFGU members rushed to the place.  But sensing the arrival of the lawmen, Taid threw the hand grenade on the ground.

Favo and his men arrested the suspect and recovered the grenade.

The suspect then was brought to the Culianan Police Station where he was detained pending the filing of charges. — Dan Toribio Jr.
