Lamitan City Mayor Rose U. Furigay  is giving out free high value cacao seedlings, corn seeds  and high valued organic vegetable seedlings to marginalized farmers to help them improve socio-economic status.

Marginalized fishermen in all coastal barangays  were given fish traps and fishing nets known locally as  “lambaklad “.

Accoring to Furigay, fishermen can catch fish everyday depending on their needs or the fish trapped in the lambaklad.

Also under Furigay’s program, rubber tree farmers received free training on rubber tree production. The partipants were 150 farmers from the different barangays. The training is conducted per cluster by the Technical Education Skills and Development Administration, Department of Agriculture and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic  Resources of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao in line with the Pamana project.

Furigay thanked gratitude to Rep. Jim Saliman for allocating free  24 mobile rice millers for the farmers in Lamitan City. — Allen Abastillas
