A 31-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her alleged lover who later stabbed himself at Nazareth Drive, Culianan at noon Sunday.
Divina Banlaygas y Tanguan, married, of Zone 4,  Boalan, sustained multiple stab wounds in the body and died on the spot.
Sr. Insp. Elmer Solon, Culianan police station chief, said Banlaygas was stabbed by Romel Pelegrin y Avila, 34, a car mechanic of Nazareth Drive, Culianan.
Initial investigation disclosed that Banlaygas went to Pelegrin’s house and had a conversation with him during which a heated argument broke out for unknown reason. At the height of the argument, Pelegrin grabbed a knife stabbed her several times.
Although wounded, Banlaygas ran out of the house and sought for help from Elsie Ferrer, but Pelegrin chased and continued stabbing her until she fell on the ground and died on the spot.
Solon said when Banlaygas fell on the ground, Pelegrin stabbed himself using the same knife.
Pelegrin also sustained stab wounds in the body and was taken to the hospital by responding policemen of the Culianan Police Station. – Dan Toribio Jr.
