Operatives of the Curuan Police Station arrested last Wednesday night a motorist at a checkpoint for having a gun in his possession but having no permit to carry it.

The suspect was identified as Antonio Dela Torrer Galon, 44, married, of Zambowood. Confiscated from his possession was a 9mm pistol with magazine loaded with nine rounds of ammunition.

During investigation, Galon presented only a firearm license, but could not produce a permit to carry the pistol outside his residence.

Police said that Galon was clad in camouflage sweat shirt with the word “POLICE” written on it during his arrest.

Galon was detained at the Curuan Police Station pending the filing of charges against him in court.

City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo said the arrest of Galon was a part of a continuous campaign against loose firearms in the city. — Dan Toribio Jr.
