To give Zamboangueños and visitors alike the widest and trouble-free access to all festivities lined up for the grand Zamboanga Hermosa Festival that kicks off today, Mayor Beng Climaco has issued an executive order rerouting traffic and closing certain streets in the city proper.

In her Executive Order No. BC140-2015, Mayor Climaco declared certain roads as one-way, no entry, no right turn, no entry and no exit point, and walk-in streets to effectively and efficiently address traffic situation throughout the duration of the month-long festival.

The following roads were declared “One Way” from 6 a.m. of Saturday, Oct. 10, to 12 noon of Tuesday, Oct. 13:

- NS Valderrosa St. from its junction with Don P. Lorenzo St. to its junction with Pettit Barracks from west to east;

- Pettit Barracks from its junction with Valderrosa St. to its junction with with Gen. Vicente Alvarez St., from south to north;

- Capt. F. Marcos St. from its junction with NS Valderrosa St. to its junction with Gen. Vicente Alvarez St., from south to north;

- Rozal St. from the corner of Pettit Barracks to Corcuerra St., from east to west;

- Villalobos St. from the corner of Gen. Vicente Alvarez St. to its junction with NS Valderrosa St. from north to south.

Right Turn is strictly not allowed on the following roads: Corcueera St. to Valderrosa St., Villalobos St. to Valderrosa St.

No Entry to Valderrosa St. fronting the National Museum up to its junction with Sta. Barbara; from Fort Pilar Shrine up to Justice Hall (Gov. Legionnaire Road).

On Oct. 9, there will be “Parade of Lights” (Float Competition). Thus, the following streets will be closed to traffic from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m: Baban Drive straight to San Jose Road, left to Buenavista St., right to La Purisima St., left to I. Magno St., right to Don Pablo Lorenzo St., left to NS Valderrosa St straight to Paseo del Mar.

To give way to the Street Dance competition on Oct. 10, the following streets are closed to traffic from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.: Mayor Jaldon St. straight to Mayor Climaco Ave. straight to JS Alano St. straight to NS Valderrosa St then straight to Paseo del Mar.

No Entry and No Exit Point from 6 a.m. of Oct. 10 to 12 noon of Oct. 13: Junction of Valderrosa St and Pettit Barracks, and Legionnaire Road from its junction with Veterans Ave. to Fort Pilar Shrine.

However, private/government vehicles with car passes duly signed by the city mayor or the city administrator will be allowed entry, including persons with disability.

Walk-in streets 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. starting today, Oct. 1-10, the whole stretch of Mayor Climaco Ave, and the entire R.T. Lim Boulevard.

Also ‘walk-in streets” from 6 p.m. of Oct. 10 to 6.p. of Oct. 13: from the corner of Pettit Barracks up to Fort Pilar Shrine and from the corner of Legionnaire Road and Sta. Barbara to the Fort Pilar Shrine.

Exempted are government/private vehicles with transactions with government offices in Pettit Barracks.— Vic Larato
