Mayor Beng Climaco is calling to task both National Housing Authority (NHA) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to monitor contractors undertaking the Zamboanga City Roadmap to Recovery and Reconstruction (Z3R) plan and enforce sanctions on non-compliance even as the City Government exerts effort to ensure the completion of all projects at the soonest possible time.

“We are calling the attention of the NHA and the DPWH to fully supervise the contractors who have won the bids for the Z3R,” she said Monday morning.

Climaco made clear that it is in the NHA’s jurisdiction to take up the non-payment of contractors, supply concerns, enforcement of sanctions on non-compliance, and other issues concerning the Z3R infrastructure projects.

“Sila pone el maga sanctions kay el contrata is between NHA and the contractors,” she said.

Climaco stressed the local government is exerting all effort to complete all Z3R projects being undertaken. It already apprised NHA General Manager Atty. Sinforoso Pagunsan of the issues, who promised to conduct an investigation on the Z3R houses, said Climaco.

“We would want that all of these contracts being done with DPWH and NHA be fully complied no matter who the subcontractors are,” she added.

The chief executive also asked contractors to continue working on the projects “para pwede paga ken ta trabaha alya”. — Jasmine Mohammadsali
