The House of Representatives has passed a resolution commending an honest tricycle driver of Zamboanga City for returning a bag containing more than P130,000 cash to its rightful owner.

Introduced by Rep. Eric L. Olivarez, 1st District of Paranaque City, House Resolution No. 2302 dated August 18, 2015 expressed the lower Chamber’s warm felicitations and congratulations to tricycle driver Ronnie Villahermosa for his act of honesty.

The House resolution stressed that Villahermosa’s honesty and integrity is worthy of admiration and emulation amidst mounting complaints against abusive public transportation drivers.

To recall, Villahermosa, a resident of Southcom Village, Upper Calarian, this city, found a bag containing P133,000 cash aboard the tricycle he was driving on August 8, 2015 about 5:40 p.m.

The bag was apparently left behind by one of his passengers, who was later identified as Col. Neptali Biolena of Metro Manila.

Notwithstanding his financial needs, Villahermosa did not hesitate to immediately turn the bag with the money inside over to PO3 Badon Jumalail of the Aviation Police at the Zamboanga City International Airport.

The police officer in turn handed the bag over to its rightful owner, Col. Biolena.

“Now therefore, for and in consideration of the forgoing factual milieu, we, the undersigned members of the House of Representatives, hereby RESOLVE to express our humble and sincere acknowledgement and congratulations to Mr. Ronnie Villahermosa for proving that anyone, no matter what age and station in life, can be a hero in his own right,” the House resolution concluded, which formed part of the official records of the 16th Congress in its 3rd Regular Session.— Vic Larato
