The ever growing enrolment in the city’s public elementary and secondary schools necessitates the construction of additional infrastructures in the school campuses.  And this is high in the priority list of District 1 Congressman Celso Lobregat.

Congressman Lobregat, together with a  DepEd team led by OIC, City Schools Division Superintendent Pedro Melchor Natividad and DPWH team headed by Chief, Planning & Design Roberto Dondi Sta. Elena, visited recently San Roque Elementary School  at barangay San Roque where a school building is being built.

Congressman Lobregat inspected the on-going construction of a 2-storey 4 classroom building funded under Batch 48 (BEFF) 2014 at a cost of Php 6.3-million.

Lobregat also discussed with San Roque Barangay Chairman Joselito Macrohon, who met the solon at the school site, the putting up of a 2-storey 8 classroom building for the San Roque National High School for CY 2016.

According to Natividad, the present student population in the elementary level is pegged at some 140,000 while in the secondary school, the student population has reached almost 50,000. With the yearly increase in enrolment by some 3 %, there is, indeed, an urgent need for additional classroom buildings in both elementary and high schools.

Also accompanying Lobregat aside from Natividad and Sta. Elena were Mr. Rosalio Conturno,Jr, chief education supervisor- school governance &  operation, and DepEd Engr. Benjamin Saligan and from the DPWH, namely, Engineers Joel Perla and  Anna-Lyne Gregorio, Architect Christy Mane Rosalinda and Cad Operator Jomar Casimiro.  — Jubels Santos
