Two gunboats from the United States will soon be arriving for the Philippine National Police Maritime Group.

Maritime Police  National Director Chief Supt. Efren M. Perez said the two gunboats from the US is given thru the International  Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program  (ICITAP) of US government.

“Two of our personnel will be sending  to the US for the proper  training of the gunboats operations,” Perez said.

Supt.  Salbino C. Piad, regional chief of Regional Maritime Unit 9, said that Chief Supt. Perez  was here in Zamboanga Peninsula to conduct an inspection and to see on the ground the general welfare of his operatives in Region 9, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi -Tawi.

Previously there was a plan from Camp Crame that Maritime Police National Headquarters will be transferred in Barangay Bolong, Zamboanga City after the September 2013 siege.

According to Perez, the plan to transfer is still under study. Another plan is that Maritime Police in Camp Crame will be transferred  in Dunggalo  in the coastal area of Parañaque.

In its campaign against human trafficking and preservation and protection of the environment. Perez directed Piad to work and coordinate harmoniously with the  people, local government units, with the community in relation to good governance. — Allen Abastillas
