A barangay kagawad and a 43-year-old man were detained at the Divisoria Police Station for disobeying policemen manning a checkpoint along the Guiwan highway before midhnight last Tuesday.

Detained were Christopher Miguel, 48, barangay kagawad of Pasobolong and Gaphal Mohammad, 43, both of Pasobolong, this city.

Initial investigation showed that the two were riding tandem on a motorcycle that was stopped at  a police checkpoint. Policemen led by Insp. Crisanto Yabo noticed they were not wearing the prescribed protective helmets. At the same time, policemen asked for their driver license and issued citation ticket for their violation.

But the lawmen said the two became arrogant and unruly. They also refused to sign the citation ticket that was about to issue to them.

Chief Insp. Arlan Delumpines, Divisoria Police Station chief, said the two uttered threatening words even as the policemen were trying to make them understand of their violation but they continued to disobey the lawmen.

At this point, the policemen took them to the Divisoria Police Station and were detained pending the filing of charges in court. – Dan Toribio Jr.
