BRA Wall exhibit at airport opens PDF Print E-mail

The City’s Gender and Development (GAD) Focal team in partnership with the Local Council of Women and Ciudad Medical Zamboanga and Wellness Center spearheaded the launch of the BRA Wall exhibit Wednesday, October 7 at the Zamboanga International Airport.

Launched at the arrival area of the Zamboanga International Airport, the BRA Wall exhibit is an initiative set in line with the observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

It showcased five BRA walls featuring more or less 200 creatively-designed undergarments from different schools, organizations and local and national government agencies, all in support of breast cancer awareness

The exhibit was formally launched with a ceremonial ribbon cutting led by Councilor Myra Paz Abubakar, Local Council of Women Chair Dr. Mila Fernandez and Dr. Filipinas Rojo of Ciudad Medical Zamboanga.

The exhibit launch also saw to the awarding of the best designed bras. The winning designs came from the City Assessor’s Office, the BJMP – ZC Female Dormitory, the ZCPO Women and Children’s Desk, and the DPWH District Engineer’s Office.

The grand winners received P 2,000 and certificates.

Runner ups were the City Human Resource Management Office, City Accountant, the Zamboanga National High School West, and the DOJ – Parole and Probation Administration. Runner ups received P 1,000 and certificates.

Dubbed as Pink October, the observance of breast Cancer awareness month kicked off October 1st with a parade that coincided with the grand opening of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival 2015. — Sheila Covarrubias
