The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) has booted out its spokesperson Eid Kabalu for aspiring to become officer-in-charge governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
The MILF, in a resolution, removed Kabalu from his post as chief of the civil-military unit.

The resolution came after Kabalu reportedly resigned from his post after news reports showed he met with former North Cotabato Governor Emmanuel Pinol and Davao City Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte without the permission of the MILF central committee.
He met with Pinol and Duterte in Davao recently during which Kabalu reportedly sought endorsement from Pinol and Duterte to be appointed as OIC-Governor of the ARMM.

“You were liable for conduct unbecoming of an MILF officer and per your confession during a preliminary investigation by the General Staff, you had admitted having met with Filipino politicians in Davao City and Manila in pursuance to your unilateral decision and ambition to be appointed as ARMM OIC regional governor. You know pretty well that ARMM is not the solution to the Bangsamoro Question.

The MILF only accepts a negotiated settlement of this problem,” the MILF central committee, chaired by Al Haj Murad Ebrahim, said.

In April last year, Kabalu was temporarily stripped of his roles in the MILF for six months after he was found to have engaged in activities related to the May 10, 2011 elections.
On Dec. 18, 2010, Kabalu was reinstated as MILF military spokesman.
As a matter of policy, the MILF prohibits leaders of the MILF whether political and military to talk to any government official without expressed authority from the MILF central committee.
