5 caught cutting ‘bakawan’ in Manalipa, are arrested PDF Print E-mail

Operatives of the Sacol Police Station under Chief Insp. Nonito Asdai arrested five men who were caught cutting mangroves along Manalipa shore.
The suspects were identified as Han Handing, 22, Jay Alphad, 29, Sadat Alih, 30, Jamil Sagiran, 50 and Nurilla Ibrahim, 55, all residents of Manalipa.

A police report disclosed that the Sacol police had received a report about illegal cutting of mangroves (bakawan) in Manalipa. When Asdai’s men arrived at Sitio Kup-Kup, they spotted five men cutting mangroves.

The police held them for questioning and recovered from their possession 100 sacks of bakawan with several cut mangroves branches.
The suspects told the police that they sell the bakawan branches to a barangay chairman.

The suspects were placed under investigation while the seized items were turned over to Manalipa Barangay Chairman Abubakar Hakim for proper disposition.
