One of the suspected kidnappers who was arrested after they tried to abduct the brother of Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde in his clinic-residence in Talon-Talon Thursday night was taken to the city prosecutor office for inquest proceeding.

Police have recommended to the city prosecutor office a case of attempted abduction docketed under IS IX-06-INQ-15J-009 against Kausar Atari y Maing, a member of the Maing Kidnap-for-ransom Group based in the so-called 3SB (Sibuco-Sirawai-Siocon-Baliguian) complex in Zamboanga del Norte.

Atari availed of the 15-day waiver and was detained again at the police station.

Atari was positively identified by some witnesses as one of the six persons who broke into the clinic of Dr. Armando Iturralde, older brother of Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde, and tried to drag him outside around 9 p.m.

Dr. Iturralde resisted and policemen responded quickly that prompted Atari’s companions to withdraw and escape aboard a get-away multicab that spedd towards Puerto Princesa where they abandoned it  before boarding two pumpboats with some 15 armed companions waiting for them.

Atari was left behind and was arrested by policemen. – Dan Toribio Jr.
