Suspected smuggled rice intercepted PDF Print E-mail

Men of the Zamboanga City Public Safety Company led by Supt. Ariel Huesca intercepted a truck loaded with several sacks of suspected smuggled rice along San Jose Road last Thursday morning.

Huesca and his men were conducting a mobile patrol around 7:30 a.m. when they spotted near a gasoline station a KIA Bongo type dropside truck driven by Abdulmunap Tahil Abdulhamid of Sangali, transporting several sacks of 25 kilograms each of rice with brand name Sunrise AAA.

During interrogation, the truck driver failed to present papers legalizing the transport of the sacks of rice.

Huesca and his men held the truck took it to the city police office for proper booking before it was forwarded to the Bureau of Custom for proper disposition.

The same team intercepted around 2 a.m. yesterday a passenger jeepney driven by Danilo Del Rosario Araneta, along Evangelista Street in Sta. Catalina carrying undocumented lumber in different dimensions.

Huesca said the vehicle was brought to the police station and was later turned over to CENRO for proper disposition. – Dan Toribio Jr.
