Mayor Beng Climaco warns the general public, particularly local government officials, to be wary of individuals claiming to be from the Department of Public Works and Highways who promise to approve future civil works and infrastructure projects in exchange of cash and/or other favors.

The lady city executive has issued the warning after receiving a letter from the department’s central office.

In the said correspondence dated October 5th, Director IV Elizabeth Pilorin of the DPWH’s Stakeholders Relations Service has informed the mayor of “a modus operandi involving unscrupulous individuals impersonating DPWH official/engineer or posing as representatives of Secretary Rogelio L. Singson and other DPWH key officials.”

The missive further disclosed that such impersonators “have allegedly been and are repeatedly soliciting cash and/or favors among local government officials nationwide in exchange of the approval of flood control and other infrastructure projects to be implemented by the DPWH.”

Any party who has encountered such or a similar transaction is advised to report the same to the Stakeholders Affairs Division-Stakeholders Relations Service at (02) 304-3370 or (02) 304-3280 or to send an email to  — Claudine Uniana
