Zamboanga City District Fire Marshall Dominador F. Zabala Jr. has been promoted from the rank of Superintendent to Senior Superintendent per a DILG order issued on Oct. 22, 2015 and signed by Peter Irving C. Corvera, Undersecretary for Public Safety.

Zabala told DZT he and other promoted officers are still awaiting for the formal oath taking and the donning of rank to be scheduled upon availability of the DILG Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento.

Zabala thanked the DILG Personnel Selection Board chaired by Corvera for considering his promotion to the next higher rank.

He submitted his application for promotion on Oct. 2 after receiving information that the DILG was contemplating for the promotion of deserving senior officers in the Fire Bureau nationwide.

Zabala is serving in the Bureau for already more than 28 years starting in September 1987 in various units and offices.

He graduated Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (Board Passer) and Master in Public Administration (MPA).

Zabala has attended many seminars/workshops and conferences conducted by government and private agencies/institutions.    Highlighting these trainings was his completion of the Public Safety Officers’ Senior Executive Course (PSOSEC) eight-month training in September 2002 at the National Police College under the Philippine Public Safety Colleges (PPSC).

A pure native of Zamboanga City, Zabala started as a mere Fireman in 1987. He became a Fire Lieutenant or Inspector (F/INSP)and served as Deputy City Fire Marshal of Ormoc City Fire Station and as Municipal Fire Marshal of Naval Municipal Fire Station, Biliran Province, all in Region 8 in 1991;

As Fire Senior Inspector (F/SINSP),  Zabala served as BFP-9 Regional Logistics/Supply Accountable Officer  from July 1991 to May 1995 and as Procurement Officer under the Logistics Division, BFP National Headquarters from June 1995 up to January 1996;

As Fire Chief Inspector (F/CINSP), he served as City Fire Marshal of Zamboanga City Fire Station, Region 9 (from October 1997 to December 13, 2000) and as Provincial Fire Marshal (PFM) of the Province of Zamboanga del Sur, Region 9, from December 14, 2000 to September 2003; and as a Fire Superintendent (F/SUPT), from September 10, 2003 to August 16, 2006. He served as Regional Administrative Officer and Assistant Regional Director for Operations concurrent Regional Chief of Directorial Staff (RCDS) of the BFP Regional Office 9 from August 17, 2006 to September 13, 2011, and, as District Fire Marshal of the Zamboanga City Fire District from September 14, 2011 to the present.
