Cops bust drag race; 2 nabbed for shabu, gun PDF Print E-mail

Men of the Zamboanga City Public Safety Company led by Supt. Ariel Huesca disrupted what was supposed to be a drag racing involving motorcycles along Veterans Avenue at dawn yesterday.

Two racers were arrested in the process for possession of shabu and an undocumented handgun.

Huesca identified those arrested as Kenneth Clark Quiait Corpuz, 23, of Narra Drive, Tugbungan and Ledon Dablo Chavez, 38, a fish vendor of Talon-Talon.

Confiscated from their possession were two big sachets and one medium size of suspected shabu, weighingsome 12.4 grams, drug paraphernalia, a cel lphone and P2, 350 in cash.

Police also recovered a .22 caliber magnum revolver thrown away by Chavez when the police team was approaching.         Policemen also impounded three motorcycles and confiscated four driver licenses.

The group of Corpuz and Chavez were about to stage an illegal drag racing along Veterans Avebue near Shell Gas Station when Huesca and his men arrived in the area.

The two arrested drag racers were detained while the seized items were forwarded to the 9th PNP Crime Laboratory for examination. – Dan Toribio Jr.
