A farmer lost his right hand from a rice thresher in Balinsungay rice field before noon last Wednesday.

The victim was identified as Jolie Toribio Mendoza, married, of Tolosa.

Culianan Police Station chief Sr. Insp. Elmer Solon quoted Mendoza’s wife Maria Janet as ssaying that her husband was operating a rice thresher around 11 45 a.m. when he accidentally put his right hand into the machine.

The machine was able to switch off and Mendoza was rushed to the hospital with a severe wound on the right hand.

Mendoza’s wife said the attending physician has exerted efforts to connect back his hand but failed because the injury was serious. They did the last option —  amputate it.

Mendoza’s wife told the police that her husband have been a thresher operator for several years already but it was the first time to figure in such accident. – Dan Toribio Jr.
