An 81 mm mortar shell was recovered at Milestone Drive, Talon-Talon last Wednesday afternoon.

A military report disclosed that a concerned citizen informed the office of the Task Force Zamboanga thru text around 2:05 p.m. that there was a suspicious object found more or less 50 meters away from the TFZ outpost and 100 meters from Talon-Talon main road.

Acting on the report, the army’s Explosive and Ordnance Disposal Team rushed to the place and safely retrieved the 81 mm mortar shell, Esperanza model which was wrapped with silk cloth.

The military said that the explosive was hidden on a vacant lot.

The explosive was brought to the TFZ camp for proper disposition.

Meanwhile, Lamitan police arrested a suspected drug pusher who yielded a grenade and a handgun during a buy-bust operation.

Arrested was Tansiong Amirul, a resident of Campo Uno, Lamitan.

Authorities said that Amirul was listed in the order of battle of the police and was reportedly armed with high powered guns.

The suspect was locked up in jail while the seized items were brought to the police station for proper disposition. – Dan Toribio Jr.
