Aimed to update the list of home-based IDPs and to ensure that all those affected by siege will benefit from the Zamboanga City Roadmap to Recovery and Reconstruction (Z3R) plan, a series of profiling activities has been set starting today, Monday, November 9.

Specific dates and venues for the profiling are November 9, 10 and 11 at the barangay halls of Sta. Barbara and Sta. Catalina; November 12, 13 and 14 at the barangay halls of Mariki and Rio Hondo and November 15, 16 and 17 at the barangay halls of Tetuan and Baliwasan.

Spearheaded by the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWDO) in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the United Youth of the Philippines’ Women, Inc. (UNYPHIL-Women), the profiling activity will cover only the home-based IDPs or those families affected by the 2013 siege and are temporarily staying with their relatives or friends and not in transitory sites.

IDPs- whether residing in transitory sites or home-based are entitled to humanitarian support under Philippine or international laws. The support includes access to basic shelter, access to food and basic medical assistance.

Enumerators will be assigned to undertake profiling activities.

Concerned home-based IDPs are encouraged to bring their tagging number and Pink Family Access Card or certification from the DSWD/CSWDO.

The last profiling activity was done in December 2014 where over 2,000 home-based IDPs were registered. The list is being cross-matched with the CSWDO records. — Sheila Covarrubias
