The Doña Isabel Climaco health center in Sta. Maria is now open to serve residents of Sta. Maria and the nearby barangays.

This, after Mayor Beng Climaco and the Banco de Oro Unibank and Banco de Oro Foundation Incorporated headed by President Maureen Abelardo together with City Health Officer Rodel Agbulos and Sta. Maria barangay chairman Abe Tan officially unveiled the newly-renovated health center Tuesday morning reaffirming commitment to health services.

Named after Doña Isabel Cortez Climaco, Mayor Beng Climaco’s grandmother, the health center was renovated through the generosity of the BDO Foundation. It has activity areas for children and elderly and is transformed into one of the most beautiful and functional health facilities in the city.

Mayor Climaco thanked the BDO for choosing the health center in Sta. Maria, her home barangay as beneficiary of the institution’s programs. She extolled the BDO foundation for its support to the city’s efforts in enhancing health services.

The mayor likewise called on the City Health Office personnel specifically those assigned to man the health center to take proper care of the facilities and to work harder to provide the health care needs not only of the children and women of Sta. Maria but also the adjoining barangays.

Rogelio Francisco, BDO Assistant Vice President and Branch head of Zamboanga-Canelar said the renovation work included the improvement of facilities for children and elderly, the consultation room, treatment room, dental clinic, labor room, birth room clinic and breast feeding area among others.

“We are delighted to know that the health center can now be of service to your health care needs with these facilities. This endeavour is also significant because it reaffirms our commitment to the people of Zamboanga and Mindanao,” Francisco said.

Amidst the struggles and challenges that the city is facing, Francisco assured that the BDO wishes to be part of the efforts to rebuild Zamboanga. “Our presence here is an affirmation of our mission to support marginalized members of the society especially those affected by disasters-natural or man-made”.
