Three men victimizing Basilan-bound passengers through over priced boat tickets were arrested in an entrapment operation near the entrance to  port at Corcuera extension last Monday afternoon.

The operation was carried out by men of the Special Investigation Unit led by Insp. Daniel Taub under Supt. Felix Martinez around 2:30 p.m.

Martinez identified those arrested as Amin Kadra Isnani y Ferrer, 38, married, of Sinunuc, Erwin Jayri y Kalasi, 30, married, of Talon-Talon and John Alibasa y Alih, 41, married, of Masepla, Mampang.

A police report disclosed that several complaints have made by passengers going to Lamitan and Isabela against a group of persons blocking them from buying boat tickets at the ticketing booth claiming that all the tickets are already sold.

The complainants said the said persons would offer them tickets but on a very high price ranging from P200 to P300 where in the regular is only P90 for economy.

Some of the complainants said that the group were intimidating them to buy tickets from them.

After conducting thorough investigation, Martinez and his men staged the entrapment that resulted in the arrest of the three suspects.

Confiscated from their possession were assorted identification cards (IDs) of different individuals, Aleson Shipping Lines ticket bearing serial numbers 3294093, 239929, 234104, 703530, 281448, 703541, 703540, 705358, 705360 and three P500 registered marked money bearing serial number GE386310, GE386314 and GE386315.

Police said the suspects sold vessel tickets to a police poseur buyer in exchange of the marked money.

The arrested persons were detained and later taken to the 9th PNP Crime Laboratory for ultra violet test.

Police have readied charges for violations of violation of Article 315-318 of RPC (Other Forms of deceits) to be filed in court against the suspects. – Dan Toribio Jr.
