Mayor Beng Climaco personally led yesterday the “Dia del Alcalde” outreach mission in Barangay Mercedes, where elementary school children together with their parents, teachers and village officials greeted her upon arrival at the covered court.

More than 500 mostly indigent residents of Mercedes availed of the different basic services—from medical, dental, civil registry, veterinary and agriculture, among others.

Also joining in the medical outreach mission were personnel from PhilHealth as they explain and orient Mercedes villagers on the programs and services the agency is offering its members.

The “Dia del Alcalde” outreach mission is the brainchild of Mayor Climaco herself to bring government and its basic social services closer to the people.

The activity is usually conducted in the barangays celebrating their fiesta in lieu with the traditional “Mayor’s Night” entertainment extravaganza.

It also jibes with her administration’s priority thrust on health, next to security and education.

In here message, Climaco enumerated the various infrastructure projects totaling P12.586-million the city government under her administration has implemented in the past two years and is currently implementing in Barangay Mercedes.

She said in 2014, the city government had implemented P6.949 million worth of projects, and P5.300 million in 2015.

Ongoing projects include rehabilitation of the covered court amounting to P2.5 million, drainage system P1 million, slope protection P500,000, construction and repair of comfort rooms at Mercedes Central School P300,000, 2 multipurpose pavements at P500,000 each for a total of P5.3 million.— VTL
