12 families displaced in 3 weekend fire incidents PDF Print E-mail

Three separate incidents of fire hit 3 barangays over the weekend displacing a total of 12 families.  Six houses including a boarding house were razed to the ground during the conflagration.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) which swiftly responded to the incidents reported that the incidents occurred at the Anio Drive in Pasonanca, Thursday night, Nov. 19 and in Km 4 Pasonanca and HB Home Subdivision in Putik on Friday, Nov. 20.

In Anio Drive, Putik, a residential house and a boarding house, both owned by Bryan Ortega were razed displacing 6 families, 3 of which were boarders. The affected families are temporarily housed at the Putik Barangay Hall.

In Km 4, Pasonanca, 3 houses were damaged with 5 families displaced. The fire allegedly started at the Cajucom’s residence and spread to the neighboring houses. Per initial investigation, the owner of the Cajucom residence intentionally set the house on fire due to mental disorder.  The suspect is now detained while awaiting charges to be filed.

The fire at the HB Homes Subdivision in Tumaga allegedly started with a spark from the main switch of the power supply. One house, owned by Alexander Jammang was razed.

As this developed, the City Social Welfare and Development Office and City Health Office providing the social and medical services to the displaced families. Apart from the medical, relief and food assistance, the city is also set to provide cash assistance to the affected families after evaluation and assessment by the CSWDO. — Sheila Covarrubias
