Christmas season in Zamboanga will officially kick off December 1 at City Hall grounds with the annual switch-on ceremonies to mark the opening of the Pascua na Zamboanga celebrations.

To be led by Mayor Beng Climaco, this year’s Christmas celebration will formally open with the Christmas opening parade and the much awaited switch on ceremonies at City Hall which will light up the Christmas Candyland decorations adorning City Hall and its grounds.

This will be followed by the lighting of the giant Christmas Tree at Paseo del Mar.

Continuing the festive tradition of the yuletide season celebration, the City Government has released the Pascua na Zamboanga 2015 Calendar of Activities which feature a diverse line-up of activities spearheaded by the local government and various sectors in the City.

Among the activities slated for December are: the Zamboanga Grand Christmas Bazaar which will open its stalls to the public from December 6 to 12 at  Paseo del Mar; the Canciones de Pascua chorale competition from December 14-18; the Open Christmas Lantern competition on December 14; and the 119th Death Anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal on December 30.

Other upcoming yuletide activities will also include Christmas charity concerts, and holiday shopping sales and fairs. — Jasmine Mohammadsali
