The Philippine Air Force honored District 1 Congressman Celso L. Lobregat by conferring on him a special award during the PAF’s 36th Founding Anniversary held at Clark Air Base in Mabalacat City, Pampanga, on Saturday, Nov. 28.

Lobregat was awarded in recognition of his continuing support to the 6th Air Force Reserve Center, located at the Edwin Andrews Air Base, in Sta. Maria, this city, which was a recipient of several projects initiated by then Mayor Celso Lobregat.

Lobregat formally received the award presented by Rear Admiral Aurelio Rabusa,Jr., J9 in-charge of Retirees and Reservists Affairs,  and BGen. Raymundo DV. Elefante, Commander, Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC). Witnessing the ceremonies was Col. Victor Vargas, Commanding Officer of the 6th ARCEN. Accompanying Congressman Lobregat was former Councilor Rudy Lim who is also an Air Force reservist with the rank of 1st Lieutenant.

Last Monday, Nov. 23, the city government turned over a P2.7-million two-storey multi-purpose building to  house the 6th Air Reserve Center . The project was initiated and funded during the administration of then Mayor Celso Lobregat with P 1-million coming from the Community Development Fund (CDF) of then Councilor Rudy Lim.

Other significant projects earlier implemented for the Reserve Command inside the EAAB are the P 1.36-million Locker/Rest and Shower Rooms which were turned over in June, 2013. Another was the construction of the P 1.38 million GAZEBO building which is now being used as meeting room and for other functions.

Gracing the 36th founding anniversary program was Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Delgado, Commanding General, Philippine Air Force, who invited Congressman Lobregat to witness the arrival of two new FA-50 PH fighter aircraft.

Lobregat, who is an Air Force reservist, holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and is commander of the 61th Air Force Reserve Group covering the area of Zamboanga City and Basilan. — Jubels Santos
