The historic City Hall of Zamboanga is once again a sight to behold this Yuletide season.

Following this year’s “Candyland” theme, the entire façade of the century-old City Hall is bedecked with dancing Christmas lights, unleashing decors of different shapes and colors akin to a kingdom of goodies from marshmallow to lollipops, cupcakes and candies—the all-time favorites for children.

To formally kickoff the joyous season of the year, the more than 2,000 employees and officials of the city government headed by Mayor Beng Climaco gathered in front of City Hall at 6 p.m. yesterday for the traditional switch-on of the Christmas trees and decors of City.

After the switch-on, the city government employees and officials in colorful t-shirts marched towards the Paseo del Mar complex for their Christmas party.

Early on, employees and officials from each department had their group photo with Mayor Climaco in front of City Hall.

Continuing the festive tradition of the yuletide season celebration, the City Government has released the Pascua na Zamboanga 2015 Calendar of Activities which feature a diverse line-up of activities spearheaded by the local government and various sectors in the City.

Among the activities slated for December are: the Zamboanga Grand Christmas Bazaar which will open its stalls to the public from December 6 to 12 at Paseo del Mar; the Canciones de Pascua chorale competition from December 14-18; the Open Christmas Lantern competition on December 14; and the 119th Death Anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal on December 30.

Other upcoming yuletide activities will also include Christmas charity concerts, and holiday shopping sales and fairs.— Vic Larato
