An 11-year-old boy was found dead along Tugbungan river last Monday morning after he went missing for more than 12 hours.

The victim was identified as Stephen Del Prado Morte, a Grade 5 pupil of the Tugbungan Elementary school and a resident of Picnic Ground, Tugbungan.

A police report said that Morte’s body was fished out of the river around 9:45 a.m.

Initial investigation disclosed that the boy asked permission from his father to go to a nearby internet café around 5 p.m. last Sunday.

Police said that late in the evening the boy did not return home prompting relatives to search for him.

The following day, residents living along the riverbank spotted the body of the body on the water.

Police said the boy could have drowned after he went to take a dip  in the river. – Dan ToribioJr.
