Congressman Celso Lobregat congratulated Lt. Col. Maynard P. Mariano, a Zamboangueño and one of the three Filipino pilots, trained in South Korea to fly the FA-50PH which the Philippine Government acquired from Korean Aerospace Industries, LTD.

Lobregat met Lt. Col. Mariano while witnessing the arrival of two FA-50PH fighter jets at Clark Air Base, Pampanga on Nov. 28, together with top defense official and military officers.

Mariano, who hails from Baliwasan, Zamboanga City, is a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy (1994-1999) with major in Business Management. He took his Masters in Public Administration at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (2002-2004)

Mariano began his career as a PAF fighter pilot in 2002 and continued up to the present and is now 14 years in the service based at the Basa Air Base.

Lobregat, an Air Force reservist with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, met the  Zamboangueño pilot at Clark Air Base together with  former District 1  Councilor Rodolfo Lim, a 1st Lieutenant in the Reserve Force, PAF and Col. Victor L. Vargas, Commanding Officer of the 6th Airforce Reserve Center.

Lobregat was invited to the 36th Air Force Reserve anniversary celebration to receive a special award when Air Force Commanding General Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Delgado invited him to witness the touchdown of the two FA-50PH jets.

The special award Congressman Lobregat received during the 36th founding anniversary of the PAF Reserve Command was in grateful recognition and sincere appreciation for the invaluable support and services rendered to the PAF Reserve Command by supporting whole-heartedly the 6th Air Reserve Center stationed in Edwin Andrews Air Base, Zamboanga City. — Jubels Santos
