A barangay chairman from Basilan and a local habal-habal driver were killed in separate gun attacks in San Jose and Sta. Catalina Wednesday night.

Ansaldo Alegre Concepcion, 36, was shot to death around 8:35 p.m. by a gunman along San Jose Gusu. He sustained bullet wounds in the body and was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Police recovered a spent shell of .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene and a .38 cal. revolver loaded with six bullets from the possession of the victim.

Angkang Manan y Pandaki, 45, married, a barangay chairman of Saluping, Tabuan lasa town,and president of the Association of Barangay Chairmen in Basilan was shot dead around 9:20 p.m. by one of two motorcycle riding gunmen in Lustre, Sta. Catalina near the KGK building.

The victim was taken to the hospital with bullet wounds in the body but was also declared dead on arrival.
