The City Government of Zamboanga has formally forged a partnership with the Landbank of the Philippines to make banking and other financial transactions of the local government more efficient.

Mayor Beng Climaco on Friday, December 4, formalized the partnership for the WeAccess project in a simple signing ceremony with representatives from the Landbank of the Philippines at City Hall.

According to Khurshid U. Kalabud, Vice President of West Mindanao Branches Group, and Alma Evangelista, manager of the Zamboanga Main Branch, weAccess is an internet banking facility to allow LBP’s clients to do select banking transactions without having to physically queue up at the bank.

Among its many features are the checkless disbursements and real time fund transfer.

weAccess is expected to be fully implemented in the local government and its transactions sometime next year.

Joining Climaco for the formal signing were City Treasurer Soledad Li and City Accountant Sylvia Binarao as well as representatives of the City Panning Office, City Legal Office, and the LGU’s computer division. — Jasmine Mohammadsali
