Barangay Divisoria is expected to become a significant transport hub when the Integrated Bus Terminal (IBT) opens to the public Tuesday, December 8.

Considered as the most modern and biggest bus terminal in the region and Mindanao, the IBT in Divisoria will ensure ease and comfort to travellers. It is also expected to be the interchange station for passengers going to the airport and seaport.

The City Government through the City Administrator’s Office is making arrangements with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to authorize public utility jeepneys to ply specific routes from the IBT.

Meanwhile, the schedule of trips of the different transport companies as well as the identities of concessionaires that will be operating the different stalls inside the terminal building is now being finalized in time for the operation of the facility on Tuesday.

The IBT sits in a 3.4 hectare property owned by the City Government in Divisoria.  It has a departure building and an arrival building –both with holding areas and parking bays. There are 5 comfort stations, a breastfeeding room, a clinic, an administration office with CCTV room and a scanner machine for security purposes.  Nineteen (19) stalls occupied by business concessionaires are also in place to cater to the needs of passengers.

The terminal will operate 24 hours a day with a manpower component of 34 personnel excluding the security and janitorial staff.

At least 5 bus companies including vans plying the provinces will be utilizing the IBT. These include the Rural Transit, Liza Mae Transit, Ceres Transit and the SSG Company and Dindo Company which are plying the Zamboanga City-Siocon-Sirawai routes.   — Sheila Covarrubias
