Mayor Beng Climaco urged leaders and members of the different homeowners association to take inspiration and to use the difficulties and challenges they face to maximize their potentials.

“I always tell the urban poor communities, we should think outside of the box and to think big. Maramitayonghadlang…but we must turn our difficulties into inspirations to help us go above another level,” she said.

Speaking before the Urban Poor and Homeowners Association Leaders’ Convention Monday, December 7, Climaco enumerated the different initiatives undertaken by her administration to ensure, among other things, security of dwelling for residents.

The chief executive highlighted the efforts of the City Government, through the Housing and Land Management Division, for the housing sector, which include numerous and intensified assistance on relocations, homeowners association’s registration and reportorial requirements as well as training on disaster risk reduction management and the awarding of certificates of full payment.

She also tasked the participating homeowners and leaders to continue learning to empower their members as “people in your community depend on you”.

Organized by the City Housing and Land Management Division in collaboration with the Homeowners Association, the convention, which capped the Urban Poor Solidarity Week celebration, was an avenue for urban poor leaders to tackle concerns and discuss updates concerning the housing sector.— Jasmine Mohammadsali
