Reaffirming the vitality of women as instruments of social change, Mayor Beng Climaco once again championed the role of women, especially mothers, in the pursuit of peace in the City.

Speaking in the Women and Peace Congress before participating parent-beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), Climaco enumerated the different ways women contributed to making their homes and communities more peaceful through their influence as mothers, educators, and mediators.

“We are instruments of peace…Mothers have a great influence to their children. Sa kamay natin nakasalalay ang kinabukasan ng ating mga anak,” Climaco said, addressing the participants of the congress Friday morning, December 11.

“The peace process shall be pursued by women,” the chief executive emphasized, adding that peace should not only be for the community but for an individual’s peace of mind as well.

She also enjoined the women to utilize their communities and networks for information and to report suspicious activities to authorities.

“Mas mabuti ang sigurado. Better safe than sorry,” she said.
