Mayor Beng Climaco has challenged the treasurers and assessors of local government units in the region to be truthful, honest and maintain the highest ethical standards in discharging their functions.

We should strive our best efforts to keep the dignity of work. This, I always emphasize to our City Treasurer (Soledad Li) and City Assessor (Edwin Bernardo) to comply with the highest standards in the valuation of real properties, and that should be actual and factual,” Climaco said.

In her message during the general assembly and annual conference of municipal, city and provincial treasurers and assessors from all over Region 9 at the Astoria Plaza yesterday afternoon, Climaco took pride in the Seal of Good Governance and Housekeeping awarded to the city government of Zamboanga as a legacy of maintaining the highest ethical standards.

The event was initiated by the Bureau of Local Government and Finance (BKGF) and REGATA IX with the theme “Facing the Challenges on High Ethical Standards of Professionalism for Treasurers and Assessors.”

The chief executive reminded the treasurers and assessors of LGUs that the powers and authority entrusted to them comes accountability to the people to whom they are accountable.

She likewise emphasized in the performance of “our public duties, we are obligated to adhere to and be guided by the ethical, legal and professional principles which are applicable to public policing.— Vic Larato
