The RFM Corporation on Tuesday issued a statement in reaction to an alleged food poisoning in Mercedes involving one of the company’s products.

Below is RFM’s statement:

RFM Corporation is committed to giving our consumers only products that are of high quality, adhering to strict production standards and quality control procedures.

In a news article published last December 11, 2015 in the Zamboanga Times online news portal, we received news of the confinement of several individuals from Pasobolong, Zamboanga del Sur in Mindanao Central Sanitarium Hospital apparently due to poisoning. According to the said news report, it was found out by the Zamboanga City Epidemiology Surveillance Unit that the cause of the contamination was from a puncture in the Selecta Moo packs consumed. The said packaging’s puncture was allegedly caused by poor stacking and storage in the convenience store where it was purchased.

In response to this news article linking our product Selecta Moo, the RFM Quality Assurance Department immediately communicated with the concerned consumer to verify the root cause of the issue.  The Quality team obtained the code of the Selecta Moo 245ml consumed. The code was 14Jan16 1809 2GFP.

To review the product quality, the RFM Quality Assurance team immediately checked the product sample with the same code which we keep in our factory for reference. All quality tests showed that the reference product in the RFM QA storage is normal and has passed our strict quality standards.

As a result of this incident, the RFM Sales Team also coordinated with the management of the concerned convenience store to inspect all Selecta products and to pull-out all stocks which may have been damaged thru product handling in the trade.

Rest assured that RFM Corporation ensures adherence to all quality control procedures at all times to meet the RFM high quality standards. This has been RFM’s quality commitment since it started in the food and beverage industry in 1958.  All our efforts aim to ensure the safety and satisfaction of our customers.
