Seventy five police trainees at the Regional Training Center 9 in Pasonanca donated 375 liters of blood to the Zamboanga City Medical Center Blood Bank last Saturday.

Supt. Abita A. Mates, Regional Health Service 9 chief,  said that out of 200 police trainees, only 75 were qualified to donate after a screening.

RHS9 Operation Officer Insp. Teodelito D. Cabasal disclosed that each donor was checked properly under a process: Physical assessment status, history of the donors, blood typing examination and physical state of the donors.

Mates said that the ZCMC Blood Bank also provided the blood bags for the various blood types donated.

In another development, The Regional Health Service 9 passed the first validation on the Performance Governance System under the Philippine National Police Patrol Plan 2030.    The validation was conducted recently  by the PGS Team from  Camp Crame . Second validation will be conducted next year.

Meanwhile, Mates advised the public most especially parents and children not to explode  firecrakers or pyrotechnics during Christmas and New Year’s eve celebration because it is dangerous to health and the environment.

“Medicines and doctor’s fee are very expensive. The money that they use for firecrackers during the celebration can buy food and vitamins instead,” said Mates as she called for support to the Department of Health’s  “Iwas Paputok Campaign”. —Allen Abastillas
