City responds to fire incidents on Christmas day PDF Print E-mail

The City Government through the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and other concerned offices promptly responded to two fire incidents that separately hit barangay Cabatangan and Sta. Catalina on December 25, Christmas day.

Personnel from the CDRRMO rushed to the fire scene and responded back to back with personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Staff from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) distributed relief goods to the victims and conducted assessment of the families/ individuals affected by the conflagration.

The City Health Office also sent personnel to look into the medical needs of the injured.

The conflagration in Cabatangan struck at around 2:10a.m of Dec. 25 and razed to the ground 2 residential structures made of light materials owned by Bienvenido Angeles and Alan Guevarra.

Per investigation by fire probers, the fire originated from Angeles’ residence and injured Joan Guevarra who suffered minor burns on her left hand. Estimated damage to property is P30,000.

The fire incident in Sta. Catalina, meanwhile, struck around 5:10pm of Dec. 25 and involved a semi-concrete one-story boarding house with 40-rooms. No one was hurt during the incident and damage to property is estimated at P200,000. The fire was caused by electrical overheat due to power overload, according to the fire probers.

The CDRRMO as well as the CSWDO and CHO along with some other departments of the city are on 24-hour duty to respond to any eventuality. — Sheila Covarrubias
