Mayor Beng Climaco has urged the police and military authorities to never let their guard down particularly during the holiday season, as she reaffirmed her administration’s support to peace and security.

The mayor said this even as she commended and thanked the police and military authorities for all their efforts that led to the peaceful and orderly observance of Christmas in Zamboanga City.

She said similar vigilance and heightened security measures should continue to the days leading to the New Year and beyond.

Security, the mayor stressed remains to be one of her administration’s top priority other than health and education in the coming New Year.

All strategies and initiatives will be undertaken to ensure that the SHE (security health and education) program will be attained, she pointed out.

The mayor said all laws particularly the ban on firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices including the pellet guns and all other security measures should be strictly implemented.

City Police Director Col. Angelito Casimiro has assured that police forces in coordination with the military have doubled its peace-keeping efforts to forestall lawlessness.

Leave privileges for all members of the police have been suspended during the Christmas holidays to guarantee adequate number of men and women guarding the streets as well as major installations and all places of convergence. —Sheila Covarrubias
