Mayor Beng Climaco has issued an executive order imposing a ban on the sale of pellet toy guns in the city and directing the immediate confiscation of the same for the promotion of public welfare and protection.

The ban is formalized in Executive Order No. BC-160-2015 issued December 28.

It has been observed that the sale and use of pellet toy guns has been causing physical injuries especially to young people.

Mayor Climaco said a proactive approach is prudent and necessary to protect the children from unnecessary injuries by banning the sale of such items.

In her directive, the chief executive has tasked the City Police Office and the Task Force Limpiesa (City Hall-COMPAC) to strictly enforce the ban and to effect the confiscation of the said pellet toy guns.

All confiscated items are to be properly accounted for, turned over and deposited at the Office of the City Administrator for proper destruction.

The chief executive has also tasked the OIC City Administrator and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer to ensure the strict compliance of the executive order. — Sheila Covarrubias
